LaserStorm. 6mm grand warfare.

More tanks, more robots, more war!

LaserStorm is 6mm science fiction on a massive scale.

Each troop stand is one vehicle or a 4-6 person fireteam. Units are platoons and the game can scale up to an entire battalion on the board, if you have the table space.

The game features:

*Card driven turn sequence, using a very small card deck.

*Not a single counter, marker or indicator placed on the table, ever.

*No record keeping or tracking for any units, ever.

*Combat rules are quick and straight forward.

*Units are distinctive in play: Tanks are durable but vulnerable to close assault, super heavy tanks are mobile bunkers and massive behemoths can stride right through a defensive line, crushing and terrifying enemy troops as they go.

*Morale system sees units driven off the table and brought back to resume the battle again. You can actually reorganize and redeploy during a game, to open up new fronts or outflank the enemy.

*Army commanders provide special deployment and combat options to their troops.

*Choose from 25 ready-to-play units, put your own together using a fast "Assembly Line" where you simply match up vehicle hulls and guns or use the points system to build your own troops from scratch.

*Unit types that can be built include infantry, tanks, grav vehicles, cavalry, field artillery, giant robots, heroes and many more.

*A standard objective-oriented scenario to get to grips with.

*Unit traits included to customize and build unique troops, such as scouts.

*Fully featured map-driven campaign rules, with troop upgrades.

*A small quick-play scenario that should be playable with almost any scifi figures on your shelf.

* * * * *

LaserStorm is intended for use with 3mm, 6mm and 10mm figures.

All dice used are plain, six-sided dice. No markers or counters are required but a deck of cards is recommended.

All my sci fi models are 2/3mm. I like substantial forces on a good sized table, grinding out an uncompromising bloodbath. Would these rules work for my needs? Hope so!

I'm sold on the idea. Many thanks.

I am having trouble getting my head around task forces, though I have read and reread that they are organizational structures. Are they only used in campaign games, as part of armies? Or in battles too? Here is the example: I am doing a small battle. Each of my battle groups is a single platoon. Is it normal that each platoon would also be a Task Force and have an asset?

I am looking for rules to adapt for 6mm Star Wars. Is it possible to represent leaders/heroes? Is it possible to represent creatures? Does it contain rules for close air support (snowspeeders)? Thanks, and sorry for the storm of questions!

I own the book. Yes it has rules for all of these and they are all very straightforward.

I hope I don't sound too demanding but is there anyway you can add or let us add bookmarks to the pdf? It would make looking things up a lot easier.

LaserStorm is a nice game.

Observations from my first two games using my red verse blue 28mm (war zone) forces consisting of 1 Hero, 3 commanders, 2 units of infantry with 5 stands and a MG, 2 units of star marines with 5 stands and a MG, 1 unit of marine commandos with 5 stands and a MG, a light tank, and a SP gun - per side. These are the ready made-units that aligned with the collection.

1. I believe the activation cards provide a nice solo game - snap actions is brilliant idea
2. Ranges and movement worked well on my 6x4 table with my 28mm
3. I added some notes to my Play charts to help me to remember the rules
4. I created some unit cards to ease play, like 40K data cards, but the unit sheet works too

My next challenge will be to move into my more vehicle heavy collections and try it

Again, I believe that LaserStorm is a very good game. I may have found the game system I have been search for, that supports my Sci-fi collection addiction...See more

I'm building a set of two 3mm Shapways armies to be used by these rules. I'm using old BattleTech tanks as super heavies and behemoth vehicles. They look great in scale next to the 3mm tanks.

THE UNIT DESIGHN RULES ARE WORKING OUT VERY WELL IN FORMING THE TWO ARMIES. WAR IS IMMINANT...

Is this a 5Core style game where I roll one set of dice and immediately know the outcome?

Hi Ivan,

Just wondering how this would play in 6mm on a 3x3 table? From the description I’d guess you could field about a company (say 3-5 platoons) per side. Would that make for an interesting game, or are the rules aimed at larger (ie battalion +) sized actions?

I'm really enjoying these rules and can't wait to get a game in. Just one thing, what are the changes in the updated version. I just paid to get it printed and bound

How would this game scale - ie the option of stands as Platoons & / or Units as Companies??

I play with a group, how is it for multiple player (6) games?

I don't own this but I can tell you about other games written by Ivan. They are usually solo friendly and a blast to write solo scenarios for. Fast and Dirty is my go to Sci-Fi Game and I have written over 50 scenarios for it.

I am looking forward to trying this out. The reorganize and redeploy sounds just what I was looking for in my Orion Commonwealth Universe.

I note the front cover has Kraytonian heavy tanks, is it easy using the unit builder to knock up lists for other rules? Can for example FWC lists easily be converted?

Hm, interesting new game (although I was considering Clash on the Fringe first). Solo play?

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
